Prof. Ivan Shishmanov’s Contribution to the Sociology of Literature

Summary/Abstract: This paper is focused on the contribution of Prof. I.D.Shishmanov (1862- 1928) to the field of literary sociology. As one of the founders of the comparative history of European literature and as a reformer-builder of Bulgarian society, the famous scholar leaves valuable ideas that chronologically and conceptually precede today’s sociological and receptive theories.
