Europe and Europeans in Geo Milev’s Letters and Journalism

Summary/Abstract: A basic question for the text is the Geo Milev’s attitude to Europe and Europeans presented in his letters and articles published in Bulgarian newspapers and magazines. Analysis pays heed to several crucial concepts such as nationality, European identity and otherness (explicated in his articles) and Milev’s standpoint on them. According to his correspondence and works the examination differentiates two turning points in Bulgarian artist’s position: 1. From military nationalistic one to the cultural internationalism (in 1913), and 2. Transition to socially motivated internationalism (in 1923).
