Short Description
The idea of creating the periodical Folia Linguistica Rossica originated in the Department of Linguistics in the Russian Studies Institute a long time ago. The project of initiating the periodical had frequently been discussed during the meetings held at the Institute. The magazine was created as a result of the generous support of the Philological Faculty Council and approval of the Publishing Council of the University of Łódź. There is a genuine need for a board presentation of the research programs of the department, which has gradually been developing with respect to its staff, organization, teaching, as well as research. It should be noted that in the 2000/2001 academic year two types of studies enriched the Russian Studies Institute: to the standard five-year program of studies were added extramural and day-time two-degree studies with elements of Ukrainian studies. The periodical will specialize in Russian linguistics. Historical, contemporary, as well as comparative approaches will be represented. Research programs covering Polish-East Slavic linguistic borderland, as well as materials to the methodology and university didactic procedures will be presented. Articles, reviews and reports will be accepted for publication. The possibility of publishing dissertations or separate monographic works and post-conference materials will be considered. The texts will appear in both Russian and Polish. The aim of the periodical is to encourage integration and initiative in undertaking studies in the field of Russian philology and, more broadly, East Slavic philologies. The periodical will welcome contributions from foreign Slavic studies centers, with which the Russian Linguistics Department has long been cooperating. This will ensure exchange of publications, e.g. between the department in Łódź and the Department of History of the Russian Language and Linguistics at the University of Kazan and the Institute of Slavic Studies in Giessen.
