Summary/Abstract: The paper is dedicated to the 183rd anniversary of the founder of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. It deals with the prehistory of the establishing of the diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Russia. It focuses on Marin Drinov’s liberal-democratic views as the reason of his personal tragedy. The author is Prof. Marin Drinov’s great-grandson.
