Summary/Abstract: The article presents the basic issues related to the method of creating lists of candidates for elections with proportional electoral law in Poland. The author referred to literature in this area of science and data from the National Electoral Commission, as well as to personal experiences. The article is based on the analysis of the results of the local elections held in Warsaw in 2010 and 2018. A strong correlation was found between the candidate's position and gender, and the chances of winning a seat. Then, a description and evaluation of the effectiveness of actions taken so far by the legislator, aimed at increasing the number of women on electoral lists, was performed. Finally, the author proposed a solution to the flaws in the election law revealed during the research. They could be prevented by the random setting of committees and candidates on election lists and alternating placement of representatives of both genders on them.
