Summary/Abstract: Bank operational risk is a fact of modern banking, and the right approach to this risk is a prerequisite for a more efficient financial banking management. Each banking company according to regulations set by the Central Bank of Romania (BNR) and by Basel Agreement II is forced to determine the necessary capital which would cover operational risk. This effective management of operational risk requires in fact, at the level of the banking system, the development of certain methods and mechanisms which diminish the negative effects which cause events determining operations risk.
