Summary/Abstract: Ignacy Dziadek was a son of a farmer who could read and write and who was appointed as village leader and folk judge. Being self-taught, Ignacy spoke Latin and German, from which he translated and published many religious books, mainly confessionals. Two of his sons became priests, as well as his grandson Albert Willimsky, who was considered a martyr of World War II. People who used his extensive book collection were young residents of Mionow, in particular Johannes Chrząszcz, who was later to become a priest and historian of Silesia. Ignacy Dziadek was a member of parliament for the National Assembly of Prussia. The article describes his literary legacy and presents him based on surviving family accounts.
