Summary/Abstract: The article describes the life and the military career of Lieutenant Colonel Stanisław Żuprański, an officer of the military recruitment service of the Polish Army. He was born in Łęczyca in a Polish Catholic family. After graduating from the gymnasium in Kalisz, he entered in 1892 as a volunteer in the Russian Army. He took part in the Russo-Japanese War and the World War I., fighting on the Caucasian front. After returning to Poland, he served in the Polish Army as an officer of the military recruitment service in Kalisz, Łódź, Kielce and Poznan, then in the Ministry of Military Affairs. He was one of the authors of the new law on the universal duty of defending the Polish Republic adopted in 1924. Three years later he retired and settled in Kalisz, where he died in 1938.
