Summary/Abstract: Bulgarian folklore culture is rich of various rituals, music and dance performances, as well as verbal folk art. One part of our traditional treasure are folk works characterized with allegorical poetic content. These are called “pripevki” (short song prayers) - object of this analysis. Distinctive and original about them is the presence of allegory in their poetic content. On the grounds of the study of this allegory, the traditional “pripevki” are defined as a genre and their typology is being clarified.
