Summary/Abstract: On 23 June 2021, the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops in Germany took place at the headquarters of the Orthodox Antiochian Metropolis of Germany and Central Europe in Cologne (Köln). This event, in which participated representatives of the Greek, Antiochian, Serbian and Romanian eparchies, was attended by the Romanian Orthodox Metropolitan of Germany, Central and Northern Europe, His Eminence dr. Serafim Joantă. The hierarchs issued a joint statement entitled „The Holy Eucharist in times of the coronavirus crisis”, which presents the effects of the coronavirus pandemic on the life of the Orthodox Church in Germany and especially on the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. The members of the Episcopal Assembly also discussed the festivities planned for the 1700th anniversary of the First Ecumenical Council (Nicea 325 AD), in 2025. Shortly before the European Parliament voted on the so-called Matić report on “The situation regarding sexual and reproductive health and related rights in the EU concerning women’s health”, OBKD discussed the document and pointed out that the draft does not take into account the rights of unborn children. The autumn meeting was set for 11 November 2021 and will take place at the headquarters of the Romanian Orthodox Metropolis for Germany, Central and Northern Europe in Nuremberg.
