Summary/Abstract: The use of the virtual private space, the standard file for fiscal control (SAF-T), the RO e-Invoice and RO e-Transport systems are just some of the important steps taken by the tax administration in order to digitize the relationship with the taxpayers this year. In the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), Romania undertook to strengthen the collection by 2.5 percentage points and reduce the VAT gap, one of the highest in Europe (approximately 7.4 billion euros out of a total of 134), by five percentage points until 2026. The importance of digitization projects is obvious. The Polish model showed us that it is possible – by applying a combined package of incentive/penalty measures, SAF-T and electronic invoice, the VAT gap was reduced by one third. But what is the stage of the implementation of the ANAF digitization project and what should companies expect?
