Summary/Abstract: Ion Serbinov, full member of the Union of Visual Artists of the Republic of Moldova and Member of the Union of Professional Visual Artists from the Russian Federation, was born on December 3, 1946, in the city of Cahul. After graduating from higher studies in artistic education at the Academy of Fine Arts, Sculpture and Architecture „I. Repin” from Leningrad, plastic artist Ion Serbinov returns to Chisinau, where he contributes to the opening of the Faculty of Painting within the State Institute of Arts in Chisinau, currently the Academy of Music, Theater and Fine Arts. As a pedagogue, he trained generations of artists known and appreciated in the field.Ion Serbinov perseveres in creative activity, approaching various genres of easel painting and graphics. In his creation, the themes of the nude and the portrait are recurring, in which the body’s expressiveness is rendered through chiaroscuro and transparent spots, the outline helping the artist to achieve plastic expressiveness. Ion Serbinov returns to the Chisinau landscape, executed in the technique of easel painting and graphics, and every time, highlights the contrast between the old town with its picturesque streets and corners, the modern buildings.
