Summary/Abstract: The article describes the history of the Polish company fighting on the Western Front in 1914–1915 as part of the French Foreign Legion. This unit went down in history as Bayonne, or the Legion of Bayonne, and took its name from the town of Bayonne, where it was formed. It was the first unit of Polish volunteers fighting on the side of the Entente countries. He became a symbol of Polish independence aspirations, fighting in the fields of Champagne at the beginning of the World War I.
