Summary/Abstract: Departing from postcolonial studies and research on post-dependence, the author proposes the category of post-dependence dislocation defined as a narrative strategy consisting in locating the protagonist at the meeting point of two spaces, one of which bears the traces of a local history marked by a situation of domination, while the other one is the space of an unblocked history. In the analytical part, the author identifies the presence of post-dependence dislocation in two texts, namely in My zdes’ emigranty by Manuela Gretkowska and Una primavera per a Domenico Guarini by Carme Riera, a Catalan author. The female protagonists of these texts turn to European culture – which bears the characteristics of a universal reservoir of knowledge and epistemological foundation – in search of resources that will give meaning to their identity metamorphosis. At the same time, the post-dependence dislocation allows for capturing the specific positioning of the subject in relation to local history.
