Summary/Abstract: The contemporary world is a very specific place and the teaching of Latin today is undergoing a crisis. The main sources used in Latin studies in XX and XXI cc. are the military works of Caesar and other historical military works from the period of Antiquity. This is the main reason for the crisis. Now we have to correct many aspects in the teaching of Latin. Firstly, we must change the topics and realities in the study of Latin: today’s people do not need military terms; they need a different lexical inventory. In this article, we search for alternative ways of teaching Latin; also, we search for the literary sources of different words, sentences, topics and realities. Finally, we propose a new system of teaching Latin today.
