Summary/Abstract: Fetal alcohol spectrum disorders is an umbrella term for a group of congenital neurodevelopmental defects and brain damage, the main cause of which is prenatal alcohol exposure. Alcohol consumption during the mother’s pregnancy has serious effects on the development of children at an early age, which can be manifested at the physical and neurobehavioral areas. Children at different stages of early childhood development show specific behaviors and deficits in individual domains of development. Deficits are highly variable in individual children. Screening and subsequent availability of early diagnosis and intervention is important, including various early intervention strategies specific to FASD.
