Summary/Abstract: After the decision of the Ambassadors’ Conference, of November 9th, 1921, which recognised the status of independence of Albania and also the borders of 1913, with some changes, comprehensively (clearly) unfavourable for Albania and in favour of invading Serbia, it started international recognition of the Albanian state. For the Albanian Government of that time the prior problem was consolidation of the Albanian state and researches for utilisation of economic resources for development of the country. In this study the most important place has been given to the natural resources, especially to Albanian oil (naphtha), this “marvellous fuel”, which drew attention of foreign companies to invest in Albania. In this direction there was an intensive competition (rivalry) between English, American and Italian companies.
