Summary/Abstract: Our paper has as a starting point the confession of Ion D. Sîrbu, the playwright born in Petroșani, who urges his successors to identify him as a "European teaching Romanian". Ion D. Sîrbu is among the few artists and not only does he declare his undisputed love for his native tongue but also he finds it essential to respect its qualities and to contibute to preserve and enrich them. This theme has been frequently declared and the sincerity of his message has constantly been reflected in his work. We have efficiently tried to revive his way of respecting the Romanian language, on the occasion of his centenary, in 2019.
