Summary/Abstract: Sociology of social changes, as a branch of general sociology, represents a form of applies special sociology in the system of contemporary sociological sciences. The paper discusses the relations among the mega trends in the development of the world society after the Second World War and the development of cognitive practice of the sociology of social changes in the world. The author analyzes four waves of social changes (namely, 1. anti-colonial and socialist revolutions, 2. development of industrial and postindustrial society, 3. collapse of socialism and pos-socialist transition, and 4. globalization process) and their impact upon the development of the sociology of social changes. The author ends the paper with the criticism and problematization of different theoretical approaches to the research of the social changes in the post-socialist societies of Southeast Europe.
