Summary/Abstract: Many of Calderon de la Barca’s comedy plays became famous for his innovative ideas which spread widely. This paper focuses on two of his works, `The phantom lady’ and ‘The Mighty Magician’ whose stories made them famous in the period they were published. Both works break the mold of the previous Renaissance literature, thanks to its mixture of tragicomic actions, the intense feelings which emerge over an obscure context, where the contrasts diffuse the outlines of the characters and mislead the protagonists, but also to its way of presenting the works on the scene, with the final aim of impressing the reader and the spectator. This paperwork aims at making a journey around the spaces Calderon send its characters to and around the ways he used to present his works (the limits and the special effects necessary for the stage) to reach the effects of changing the real and the fantastic.
