Summary/Abstract: The reasons (logoi) of creation, premises for the fulfilment of God's eternal plan. In order for the world to move towards the purpose for which it was created and to share in God's grace, it must have been created with this capacity and predisposition. It must be capable of receiving the grace that sanctifies it and of containing certain potencies that are actualized in the sense intended by the Creator. These potencies have been much spoken of in Orthodox theology, and are known as the rations (logoi) of creatures.
