Summary/Abstract: The Church, being the People of God, carries out her mission of sanctifying the world by involving all the faithful, both clergy and laity, in the responsibility. His mission is fulfilled in the spirit of synodality, that means walking together - side by side - towards eternity with Christ. In modern times, the practice of the Church places great emphasis on the involvement of the lay faithful in caring for the Church and, through legislation, also enables them to participate in the Church’s authority. An expression of joint responsibility and a manifestation of synodality at the particular level was the Second Synod of the Koszalin-Kolobrzeg (Kołobrzeg) Diocese. Its course and resolutions allow us to recall the ecclesiastical understanding of the identity of the laity and clearly define their vocation in the Church.
