Summary/Abstract: The prevalence of biomedical practices in healthcare and social services institutions influences those of social workers. These practices may be observed in patient file notes. Driven by ethical, professional, and organizational components, professional writing reflects the social workers professional and institutional positioning. A stydy examined the social workers written practice within public institutions. The results show similarities between the social workers discourse and doctors practice and highlight an evaluative and therapeutic logic that characterizes social intervention.
