Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the difficult situation that developed in the Czechoslovak Republic in the early 1920s in connection with the return of the large number of legionnaires, prisoners of war and re-emigrants to their homeland. The author focuses on the Czechs and Slovaks from Russia, their attempts to receive compensation for property lost due to the war, revolution and nationalization. The interests of the returned Czechs and Slovaks were defended by organizations and associations they created, which constantly appealed to the parliament and the government with requests and demands for support. An analysis of the various measures taken by the Czechoslovak authorities clearly shows the social policy towards re-emigrants, the study of which is very relevant even in our days of exacerbation of refugee problems.
