Summary/Abstract: This paper focuses on the human dimension of open innovation, by mobilising the dynamic capabilities view and by focusing on regional clusters as an empirical field. Our main issue is what dynamic capabilities should be developed to overcome the human difficulties of open innovation projects within regional clusters? 22 semi-structured interviews with four open innovation project actors (business leaders, university professors, engineering research labs executives, and cluster managers) within three Moroccan clusters were conducted. The thematic analysis of data collected was realised via Nvivo 10 software. To overcome the main human difficulties of open innovation, it seems necessary for an organisation to develop four dynamic capabilities, namely team sensemaking capability, absorptive capacity, capacity to renew its competences and capacity to transform its organisational culture. The results could be useful for managers of organisations participating in open innovation projects within regional clusters during the development and implementation of HRM practices.
