Criminal behavior, violence and psychopathy

Summary/Abstract: The subject of consideration in this publication, is the personal disorder of psychopathy, its interrelation with the criminal behavior and especially with the violent crimes. An overview of the characteristics of the psychopathic personality according to different scientific views has been made. Cases are considered in which they confirm the diagnosis of psychopathy, it is obtained through the most valid and world-renowned tool on the subject, namely the cellist for psychopathy of Dr. Robert Hare (PCL-R). According to scientific data psychopathy is consistent with serious crimes and violent crimes, also it is a major factor in the profiles of serial killers. Psychopathy Checklist-Revised is a tool that can confirm this diagnosis with the greatest accuracy. In addition, PCL-R can predict the risk of criminal behavior and is also used in many countries as a valid indicator of pretrial proceedings. In-depth research on these topics as well as research on tools such as PCL-R allows for a greater scope of action for the police and criminal psychologists.
