Summary/Abstract: The Criminal Code entered into force in 2014 provides for the punishment of military degradation in a manner quite similar to the Penal Code of 1968. The complementary nature of the punishment expresses the need to preserve the climate of order and discipline within the Army and other military structures. It has also a strong cultural significance, the main meaning of it being the removal of those unworthy of the honor and dignity of bearing arms from the Army. Although it is definitive, in the case of pardon or finding of political character of conviction, the military degradation is reversible.
