Summary/Abstract: Although the 9 BAC 1-11 aircraft built in the 1980s in Romania have not been flying for a very long time, this topic is far from being exhausted (ROMBAC program). Being part of the group of the airlines belonging to the Soviet Bloc states, TAROM (Transporturile Aeriene Române – Romanian Air Transport) operated Soviet-design Lisunov Li-2, Ilyushin Il-14, Ilyushin Il-18, Ilyushin Il-62, Antonov An-24, and Tupolev Tu-154 aircraft. An exception was made when, in 1974, TAROM acquired Boeing 707 aircraft for its long haul operations and BAC One Eleven in 1968 for European and Middle East destinations.
