Summary/Abstract: This year we are celebrating the 160th anniversary of the outbreak of the January Uprising 1863: the largest in terms of scope and the longest-lasting national uprising. The author, based on archival sources, attempted to present thebiographies of two soldiers of the Uprising, born in Szadek. Reading the article, you can back in time and feel, just for a moment, the tragedy and luridness of the January Uprising.
