Summary/Abstract: Bishop Ignatius Fabry was born 24. July 1792 in Sátoraljaújhely. He completed his theological studies in 1807. He received his priestly ordination on August 1rst 1815 from the hands of the Bishop of the diocese of Kosice, Andrew Szabó as a 23-year old. Following his appointment as Bishop of Czanad in 1834, József Lonovics, who resided in Timisoara, invited him in his services. Ignatius Fabry became the episcopal vicar of the Diocese of Czanad in 1848. Emperor Franz Joseph I. appointed him as the Bishop of the Diocese of Kosice on February 5th 1852. This appointment was confirmed by Pope Pius IX. 27. September 1852. Fabry was consecrated and installed on November 30th 1852 in Kosice. He died 24. June 1867 and he was buried 7. January in the Cathedral of Košice.
