Summary/Abstract: In the historical development of the idea of adult education through acquired life experience, many authors offer different points of view to the problem. This article conceptualizes experimental learning in formal adult education by examining theoretical models from the early twentieth century to the present day. The following authors are represented: Edward Lindeman, John Dewey, Kurt Lewin, Carl Rogers, David Kolb, Jack Mizerow, Paulo Freire and Malcolm Knowles, as well as the development and application of their ideas in the work of contemporary authors such as: Stuart Hase and Kris Kenyon, Neusi Berbel, Adelina Moura and others.
