Summary/Abstract: There is a growing interest in using the e-portfolio as an alternative assessment method in an open elearning environment. The present study aims to determine from a pedagogical perspective the level of students' satisfaction with the use of e-portfolio. As a sample of this study, 77 students from the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca enrolled in the 2nd and 3rd year of the psycho-pedagogical module in the initial teacher training in the 2021-2022 academic year were selected. Analyzing the results of the questionnaire, observing the process of the students' performance of the creative-constructive tasks, it was confirmed that the students' satisfaction in using the e-portfolio was at a moderate to high level, that a complex portfolio is a relevant method for the development of critical thinking, intrinsic motivation, ensures the autonomy of each student, builds confidence in their own abilities and the willingness to work in groups within the activities. The level of satisfaction of rural students differs significantly from that of urban students, being statistically insignificant depending on gender and year of study. These results generated several implications for educational theory and practice for teachers, universities, and researchers, and various suggestions were made to create more effective online learning environments.
