Summary/Abstract: During World War II, Constanța was left with a deficient public transportation, as a result of the requisitions. The city administration decided to establish and run its own transport system, using tramways captured at Odessa. Having received enough material in 1942 for only one line, it was decided to lay the tracks between the Railway Station and Soveja Street, along Carol Street and Regina Maria Boulevard. The line opened on June 20, 1944 and ran for four months and five days. After King Michael’s Coup on August 23, the Soviets demanded their property back. The Romanian authorities put considerable effort into repairing and returning the material during 1945. Thus ended the first episode of electrical public transport in Constanța.
