Summary/Abstract: The study deals with the pre-and post-life of Arpad Tőzser’s book published in 2005. It examines texts published in periodicals related to the dramatic poem Faustus in Prague including those that were incorporated in the book in their original form, but contributed to the creation of the final text. Among the omitted texts, following the independence of the poem “Crossroads” (Keresztut), as well as mapping the textual references generated by the text, and a horizontal examination of the entire oeuvre, the basic characteristics of Tőzser’s lyric can be shown. The rich intertextuality, the author’s intratextual gestures, the reconsideration of the Faust tale, and the conclusions that can be drawn from these serve as an important addition to reading and understanding. In addition, the study also deals with mapping the parallels in related dramatic works of European and Hungarian drama literature (Henrik Ibsen, Imre Madach, Mihaly Vorosmarty, Johann Wolfgang Goethe).
