Summary/Abstract: The paper represents an incursion in the past of the present-day siege of the institution of the National Archives of Romania. It brings into attention a number of seven documents issued in the interval between 1884-1886, when the building was supposed to be under the administration of the institution of Monitorul Oficial. The documents refer to the correspondence between the main architect, Nicolae Cerkez and the authorities in those times.
