Summary/Abstract: On the territory of Moldova, three main construction zones have historically developed: northern, central and southern, distinguished by different volumetric and spatial compositions of buildings, proportional structure and decorative means of artistic expressiveness of facade architecture. T he development of the cult architecture of Moldova is best traced by the example of monasteries — the most numerous group of ensemble monuments that have survived to the present day, including various types of religious and civil buildings of various styles. The architecture of the monastic complexes of the studied period most expressively reflects the special features of medieval Moldavan architecture and, at the same time, their evolution in the 18th - early 20th centuries, which is represented by the widest and most diverse range of monuments in terms of stylistic directions. Most of the monastery churches are classified by us according to their architectural forms into three groups: 1) retaining the elements of the “Moldovan style” (Capriyana, Rudi, Saharna); 2) those which adopted the language of late classicism (Hynkul, Gyrzhavka); 3) made under the influence of eclectic stylization (Noul-Nyamts).
