Summary/Abstract: At the end of 2019, the first cases of infection with the SARS-CoV-2 virus were discovered, after which a pandemic was declared that forced most countries to establish a quarantine. COVID-19 had many impacts on the health of the population in Bosnia and Herzegovina, including sleep disorders, stress, as well as psychological problems. Also, providing medical care during a global pandemic has exposed healthcare workers to high levels of risk, causing anxiety and stress. The aim of the study: Investigate whether insomnia was more prevalent in healthcare professionals who had a COVID-19 compared to those who did not have a COVID-19. Methods: A survey questionnaire was developed to examine the presence of insomnia among 148 healthcare professionals in the Una-Sana Canton, in the period from 07.08.-21.08.2023, in 9 hospitals. Participation was anonymous and voluntary. After the research, the collected data were entered into an electronic database created in the Microsoft Office Excel 365 program. The statistical program IBM SPSS Statistics 27.00 IBM Corporation was used for statistical data processing. Results: Indicate that there was no significant difference in the quality of sleep before the pandemic between healthcare professionals that were infected with COVID and those who did not (p=0.198). Conclusion: Subjects that had COVID show significantly more sleepiness than subjects who did not infected, although there are no significant differences in the presence of symptoms and sleep problems before and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
