Summary/Abstract: Romania’s electricity sector has undergone significant reforms as a result of the country’s accession to the EU. The aim of this paper is to assess how the recent changes in the Romanian electricity markets are impacting the household consumer segment. We first provide a brief description of the various modifications observed within the industry over the last few years and then assess, from an energy marketing perspective, how they affect household consumers of electricity. The study is based on secondary research. We conclude that a new and more complex pricing mechanism has emerged and that household consumers have a constrained freedom on the liberalized market.
