Summary/Abstract: The institution of ostracism is an object of controversy because of a problem created by the disagreement between Androtion’s and Ps-Aristotle’s statements. A fifteen-century codex Vaticanus Graecus 1144 gives additional evidence that Cleisthenes was the author of the law and that ostracisms was established in 508/7 BC.
