Summary/Abstract: From a historical perspective, there is no doubt that the history of medicine is related to human existence, the understanding of the meaning of human health and later the health of animals, and the knowledge of disease as a key element for continuing a quality life. Probably, the question is often asked whether the process of the birth of medicine is a historical question or should the science of medicine only deal with it? No researcher should have any doubt that historical science should deal with this issue from an aspect that allows recording all the events in the knowledge of medicine and the historical periods in which it developed. The subject of historical science is the possibility to arrange all the facts chronologically and then to record them and make them available for new generations as well as for the needs of new research and progress of this science. The definitive meaning of medicine is connected with its key task, which is treatment. From all the research that has been done on this topic, it is difficult to determine whether the healthy or the sick person is the greater object of interest of this science. However, all of us and the people who lived in the different eras of the development of humanity only felt the benefit of this science in moments of illness and a necessary need for it. That is why, throughout history, medicine has traditionally been considered a skill that is at the level of art and magic, and in prehistoric times and much later, people who had the capacity to heal sick people were treated to the rank of deities. Medicine often included religious elements and rituals with which, above all, the priests tried to exorcise the diseases that afflicted their people. As time passed, in addition to caring for people, medicine developed its own humane side and tried to find an answer for the diseases of animals and plants, developing special directions in its development. We definitely understand modern medicine as part of an already established system of scientific knowledge whose main goal is the preservation of the health of healthy people, as well as the treatment and rehabilitation of sick and injured people. The focus of this science is always the human being, the awareness of his health and the creation of healthy lifestyle habits that will, first of all, enable prevention, not just treatment of people. Modern medicine even tries to direct the attention of other sciences in the direction of improving people's living conditions and improving the quality of life and preserving the environment as a prerequisite for reducing diseases, mortality and extending the life span of people.
