Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to explore animals’ nonverbal cognition through Uexküll’s search image concept, as well as different imaginary images and image schemas. In addition to Uexküll’s search image and tone, we propose a new concept of search schema. This article also compares several approaches to mirror worlds and mirror images and how schemas are mirroring objects in animals’ umwelten, forming a counter-world. An attempt has been made to return to Kant's approach and, based on this, from the Uexküll framework and Peirce's sign theory, to examine how cognitive processes in animals' Umwelten work through different images and image schemas and how new creative behaviors are emerging.
