Summary/Abstract: Professional parenting, performed by a professional parent, is part of institutional care in Slovakia. It is an employment-legal relationship, which is performed by a professional parent in a family environment until he or she is placed in another form of family care. They are organized by the Center for Children and Family. The child should not stay in the professional family permanently, but only until the family conditions of the biological family are adjusted, the possibility of being placed in a foster family or, in the case of a legally single child, adoption.
