One hundred years of Estonian art history. A brief introduction

Summary/Abstract: In 2022, alongside other events, the Estonian Society of Art Historians and Curators organized a conference to mark the first centenary of academic art history education in Estonia. This special issue of Kunstiteaduslikke Uurimusi/Studies on Art and Architecture includes some of the papers presented at the conference. In this introduction, we will attempt to fill in some of the historical context to the observation of the anniversary.
