Summary/Abstract: The article is dedicated to the Polish-Russian relations in the mid-1650s. It focuses on the analysis of the instructions issued by the royal chancellery on 7 July 1656 and passed on to deputies going to Vilnius for negotiations. The aim of this article is to confront the content of the instruction with the political situation of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and to understand to what extent the demands of the Crown-Lithuanian side were possible to be met by the Russian State.
