Summary/Abstract: In the author’s opinion, the underground economy leads to the degradation of the political and social climate, by establishing and strengthening relations between the political power and the most influential actors acting in the area of illegal business, economic and financial crime. Moreover, the consequences of underground economy must necessarily be analysed from the viewpoint of government fiscal policies, which have a temporary feature. The main consequence of illegal businesses, generating dirty money, is the destabilisation of the legal system, being therefore a serious threat to society, as it represents the core of corruption and economic crime.
