Psychopathic traits as a factor in domestic violence

Summary/Abstract: Domestic violence is a hot topic that we face all the time. It can take different forms of manifestation, but at its core, this social problem proves to be destructive for all its victims. For this purpose, the term "domestic violence" has been defined and an overview of scientific research in the field has been made. Last but not least, the publication also draws attention to data on the situation in Bulgaria. The gross violation of human rights makes us look for deeper roots in the reasons for the behavior of the perpetrators. The subject of consideration in this report is the state of psychopathy, psychopathic traits and what exactly is its relationship with cases of domestic violence. Various studies conducted on the subject, including the PCL-R tool for measuring psychopathy, are also reviewed.
