Summary/Abstract: Education in the Republic of Poland is the common good of the whole society;is guided by the principles contained in the Constitution of the Republic of Poland,as well as the guidelines contained in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights,the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the Convention on theRights of the Child.Due to the great value of the above assumptions of Polish education, each publicschool should be managed by a competent, ambitious, autonomous, responsible, creativeheadmaster who is aware of his rights and duties. His presence at the school beginswith winning the competition for this position, which is a fully formalized legal pro-cedure provided for in the education law.The author indicates the essence of this procedure, its nature and scheme. It descri-bes the tasks of the school principal and presents various facts regarding the presentedmatter, and supports them with the rich jurisprudence of administrative courts.
