Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the phenomenon and characteristics of conspiracy theories. Conspiracy theories are examined from a communicative point of view and their paradoxes are highlighted. The methods of philosophical critical analysis and phenomenological introspection are applied to examine various aspects of the phenomenon, both negative and positive. Conspiracy theories are a multifaceted phenomenon of mass communication and public life, including sociological, communicative, psychological, political and philosophical aspects. Conspiracy theories cannot be eliminated because they are a form of reasoning, criticism of government and a compensatory mechanism. Moreover, they play an important role in the accumulation of social capital and in increasing the authority of public leaders.
