Summary/Abstract: Romania was the first state to sign, on January 26th, 1994, the Framework Document of the Partnership for Peace, thus reconfirming the resolve of the entire Romanian society to re-become part of the community of European and Euro-Atlantic values, through observing individual freedom, human rights and strengthening the rule of law. The author describes the period of the 10-years Romania’s participation within the PfP as being one of preparation and consolidation of our candidacy for the Euro-Atlantic structures. Moreover, the author highlights the most important actions meant to develop the interoperability of the Romanian armed forces with NATO ones and to strengthen our country’s role as a security factor at the regional level. In this context, Romania was actively involved in actions within the PfP, paying great contribution to the NATO operations led with the participation of partners, such as the ones in the Balkans.
