Summary/Abstract: The Industrial Revolution brought about a significant transformation in transportation in Europe. The British led the way in railway investments, and the Germans, following suit, further developed these initiatives. The Ottoman Empire, albeit belatedly, joined railway investments, aiming to benefit both economically and militarily. By participating in railway projects, the Ottoman sought to not only contribute to economic development but also enhance its military capabilities. Although initially it made an alliance with the British and French, it established close relations with the Germans after the Berlin Congress. The political strategy pursued by Germany in the Near East necessitated closer ties with the Ottoman Empire. Germany played a role in major projects such as the Hejaz and Baghdad Railway, aiming to strengthen economic and military cooperation. Deutsche Bank served as the financial intermediary for these projects. In this study, the extent of economic relations is examined by focusing on the railway investments and credits provided by the German Empire in the Near East.
